The NHL’s return to play plan is well thought out, but Boston Bruins winger David Pastrnak’s historic regular season has been cut short.

The NHL announced their return to play plan on Tuesday and Boston Bruins fans have some reasons to be upset.

Boston was the best team in the NHL and with the regular season over they won the President’s trophy. Yet, the Bruins might not be the No.1 seed. That just seems unfair.

Also with the regular season over David Pastrnak’s historic season has been cut short. Pastrnak was dominating the 2019-20 season.

In 70 games, Pastrnak had 48 goals and 47 assists. If he had scored just 2 more goals he would have been in exclusive company. The last time a member of the Bruins scored 50 or more goals was in the 1993-94 season (shoutout Cam Neely).

Also if Pastrnak kept up his level of play, he could have finished with 56 goals over 110 points. That hasn’t happened since Adam Oates tallied 112 points in the 93-94 season.

Pastrnak is also now forced to share the Richard Trophy with Alex Ovechkin. This isn’t too bad because Pasta will still get the recognition that he deserves, but I wouldn’t have been surprised if he edged out Ovi by the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see how Pastrnak does when play resumes. The Bruins will likely rely on him a lot.

The Bruins have always relied on their top line, but they will even more this postseason. Brad Marchand has said that older teams will be at a disadvantage. With 42-year-old captain Zdeno Chara, the Bruins are one of the oldest teams in the NHL.

Pastrnak on the other hand is only 23. With the regular season he had you hope that some of that goal scoring transfers over to the postseason. The Bruins will definitely need it.

Next. Return to play plan not a good one for Bruins. dark

I can’t wait to get back to seeing Pastrnak dangle all over the ice and scoring goals for the Bruins
