New England Patriots: Tom Brady jealous of Julian Edelman
By Sam Minton
Julian Edelman welcomed Cam Newton to the New England Patriots and it now looks like Tom Brady is missing his former BFF.
For a while, it seemed like Julian Edelman was the scorned ex. When Tom Brady left the New England Patriots seemed like he had stabbed Edelman in the back.
We know how much Edelman loved Brady. The two almost seemed to be attached at the hip.

When Brady left we even saw Edelman unfollow Brady for a moment. It seems as though Edelman is doing better now.
Now Edelman will have Cam Newton throwing him the ball. Edelman could have a career year with Newton under center.
Edelman is the veteran in New England so he will be at the top of the depth chart. But we also know that Newton loves to scramble. Edelman can find open space while Newton extends the play and this could lead to some large gains.
On Tuesday Edelman welcomed Cam to New England and one comment really stood out.

Oh, how the tables have turned. Now Brady seems to be jealous of Edelman.
Brady sees that Edelman has a new QB throwing him the ball and has to comment on how he was Edelman’s first QB. That’s a rough look for the greatest quarterback in NFL history.
It will be interesting to see if Edelman’s status changes among the wide receivers. We have already seen Newton workout with Mohamed Sanu.
Also looking at Newton’s career he tends to favor tall receivers. Newton loved throwing to Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess in Carolina. N’Keal Harry and Sanu could have some impressive performances in 2020.
Newton has improved, but he has succeeded with bigger receivers due to some accuracy issues. Edelman isn’t exactly the biggest target.
Even with all that considered, I expect Edelman to have a quality season. He has something to prove in 2020. Critics like to credit Brady for Edelman’s success. 2020 is a chance for Edelman to prove just how great he is.
Brady could get even more jealous if Newton and Edelman get off to a hot start in 2020. That would be great to see.
