New England Patriots: Damiere Byrd a player to watch
By Sam Minton
With his prior connection to Cam Newton, Damiere Byrd could have a great 2020 with the New England Patriots.
The New England Patriots struggled to pass the ball in 2019. Now in 2020 they seem poised to have a breakout year.
Now it is rather stunning to think this since we saw Tom Brady leave during the offseason. One would think that the offense would take a major hit.

But the signing of Cam Newton changed all of that. He is a dynamic quarterback who will bring some new skills to New England.
Of course, we will see players like Mohamed Sanu and Julian Edelman lead the way. These guys are veterans and have shown that they are very skilled wideouts. You also have young studs such as N’Keal Harry and Jakobi Meyers on the depth chart.
Still, there is another newcomer besides Newton that you should keep an eye on. Damiere Byrd could help the passing game improve in 2020.
Byrd is still young, but he hasn’t put together amazing numbers. His best season came in 2019 with Byrd grabbing 32 catches for 359 yards and a touchdown.
Now Byrd is still in the hunt for a roster spot but I think his experience will gain him a spot. He has worked with Newton before and they seem to have some good chemistry.
Obviously, I think players such as Edelman, Sanu, and Harry will get plenty of looks, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Byrd put up some quality numbers. Newton knows what to expect from Byrd and could rely on him in key situations.
Also, Bill Belichick and the rest of the coaching staff will get the best out of Byrd. It is just how things work in New England.
No matter what 2020 is going to be an interesting season for Patriots fans. We don’t even know if the season will be finished at this point. Still, this is the first season without Brady under center. Will New England be able to survive?
I think the Patriots offense will surprise some people and so will Byrd in 2020.
