After defeating Miami there is some cautious optimism in New England. They looked pretty good and seem like a team that could do some damage.
But Seattle should be one of the best teams in the NFL this season. With a high powered offense and a star-studded defense, the Seahawks will compete for a Super Bowl in 2020.
If the Patriots were able to defeat the Seahawks it would be a statement win. It would show that they are doing just fine without Tom Brady.
New England will have to play a perfect game if they want to win in Week 2.
So if the Patriots want to win in Week 2 they will need to do these three things.
The New England Patriots need to establish the run
If the Patriots want to win they will need a good performance from Sony Michel and the rest of the running backs. How they performed last week wasn’t good enough.
Now when I mention the run I’m not talking about Cam Newton. It’s unlikely we see him run as much as he did in Week 1. Besides being a heavy workload, it opens Newton up to injuries.
Michel only had 37 yards against the Dolphins. He needs to be closer to 100 yards if the Patriots are going to be successful.
The Seahawks have quite the secondary. The addition of Jamal Adams has only improved the defense.
So establishing the running game will be an important factor for the Patriots on Sunday night.
