Now that Gordon Hayward’s sign and trade is official, Danny Ainge and the Boston Celtics have some money to spend.

Well, the Gordon Hayward era in Boston is now officially over. The team was able to announce on Sunday that Hayward was no longer a member of the Boston Celtics and officially headed down south.

The good thing for Boston is that they will get something out of the Charlotte Hornets. The deal is a sign and trade and frees up a lot of money for the C’s.

On top of sending Hayward to the Hornets, Boston also sent two second-round picks. In return, the Celtics got a $28.5 million traded player exemption which is the largest in league history. This gives the team some trade options.

The loss of Hayward will be felt, but it will have a minimal impact. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been doing the heavy lifting in recent seasons.

But there are definitely still some problem areas for the C’s. They can still make some improvements to their roster.

So who should Boston go after? Here are four players who could end up with the C’s thanks to the trade exemption.

Boston Celtics: 4 trade exemption targets – No. 4: Otto Porter

Initially, Otto Porter seems like an interesting name but he doesn’t belong at the top of green teamers wish list. He’s someone you look at if you strike out on the players we will get to later.

But Porter would still be an interesting option. The Celtics are currently lacking in the three point shooting department. Remember the days of Eddie House coming off the bench and lighting things up from behind the arc? Those days are long gone.

Porter is a quality shooter with a career three point percentage at 40 percent. Porter would likely be a piece that could come off the bench which makes his price tag of $28,489,239 rather hard to swallow.

Celtics fans would have to hope that Danny Ainge could swindle the Bulls and send minimal assets to Chicago while convincing them that Boston is doing them a favor by taking on Porter’s contract.

At the end of the day, Porter shouldn’t be high on Boston’s wishlist but with the money they have available he wouldn’t be a bad pickup.
