There has been one area where up until recently, the Boston Bruins have struggled a lot. Boston was struggling to score and it was clear that the absence of David Pastrnak was having an effect on the team. That’s why the news of his return is so exciting.

Pastrnak had offseason surgery and it seemed as though he could miss some serious time. The fact that he could be returning is music to fan’s ears.

More from Chowder and Champions

On Monday, Pastrnak returned to the ice and was out of his non-contact jersey. Bruce Cassidy also said that Pasta could play on Saturday. He would be reunited with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron on the top line.

Why return of David Pastrnak is crucial to Boston Bruins.

Pasta is one of the best goal scorers in the NHL. Last season he racked up 48 goals and 47 assists in 70 games.

On the power play, Pastrnak is lethal. His slap shots from near the faceoff circle are pretty much guaranteed to go in. Also, his ability with the puck is second to none. He can make even the best defenders look silly.

With the top line reunited and Boston already starting to score, the Bruins could be one of the best team’s in the NHL. If they were performing so well without Pastrnak, imagine how well they will do when he returns.

Now one of the disappointing consequences of Pastrnak coming back is that one of the young players will lose his spot. It’s difficult to see Jack Studnicka and Trent Frederic getting demoted so one has to think that Anders Bjork could be headed to the ninth floor.

But this would mean that Boston could become a much deeper team. Having Studnicka and Frederic apart of your bottom six would ensure that they are an extremely deep team. Boston would have scoring all across the lineup.

So the return of Pastrnak will surely be a major boost to the Bruins. He will bring some much needed scoring and make Boston one of the best teams in the NHL.

Now it’s time to seriously start wondering if Boston will add another championship banner to TD Garden. After the disappointment of the postseason in 2020, fans will be hoping for a long run in 2021.

dark. Next. Boston Bruins must fix early season offensive struggles soon

When Pastrnak is on his game it seems like there is no one who can stop him. Hopefully in his first game back he will actually be able to secure his first goal as well.
