On Wednesday the Boston Bruins announced that they had signed Anders Bjork to a three-year extension and that is great for the team’s future.

There is one deal that Boston Bruins have been waiting for, but sadly the team has yet to sign Torey Krug. Still, Boston made a great move on Wednesday that fans should be excited about.

The Bruins signed Anders Bjork to a three-year extension worth $4.8 million. For a player such as Bjork with a long career ahead of him, that is a bargain.

More from Chowder and Champions

Bjork has had an interesting career so far. In his first season with the team, he appeared in 30 games and had four goals and eight assists.

But there was still some work that needed to be done. Bjork needed to become a better overall player. He needed to get into the corners and fight for pucks. Spending some time in Providence ended up being a blessing in disguise for Bjork.

This past season Bjork appeared in 58 games and racked up nine goals and 10 assists. With his 24th birthday in a few days, the future is bright for Boston and Bjork.

With Jack Studnicka making some serious waves, it looks like Bjork’s long term home will be on the 3rd line. It seems like the perfect home for him.

You have a player like Sean Kuraly who brings the energy and also some physicality while also pairing Bjork with a skilled player such as Charlie Coyle.

The Bruins have had issues with depth before. In the past they have relied too much on their first line. By signing Bjork to this extension, the team ensures that they will have a skilled player for the near future.

Also, this move didn’t cost the Bruins a ton of money. A cap hit of under two million dollars per year is great for a player of Bjork’s caliber. Once again Don Sweeney is able to make an amazing deal.

So get excited Bruins fans. Bjork isn’t going anywhere.
