New England Patriots Gameday reaction: The boys are back
By Sam Minton
The New England Patriots had a rough start to the season, but after their performance in Week 4, there is no need to worry.
Well, that was a blast. The New England Patriots seemed to be headed in the wrong direction. They had an awful start to their season, but everything is okay now.
The New England Patriots completely dominated the Miami Dolphins defeating them 38-7 on Sunday. The offense returned to glory and the defense was much better.
It’s kind of funny to think that everyone (including me) thought that we may be witnessing the end of the Patriots dynasty just a few days ago. We were sadly mistaken.

Tom Brady reminded everyone why he is the greatest quarterback ever. He stood in the pocket and made some great throws. His touchdown pass to James White was an absolute beauty. Brady ended the day with 274 yards and 3 touchdowns
Speaking of White he had another phenomenal game. White had 8 carries for 44 yards and a touchdown as well as 8 catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. I’m glad to see that the Patriots let him run the ball more, as he made some great cuts.
Sony Michel also had a great game out of the backfield. He had 25 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown. This was Michel’s breakout game.
The rookie proved why the Patriots picked him. He exploded out of the backfield and had some great runs. Michel also isn’t afraid of contact and looks like he could become the face of the Patriots running game.
In Week 4 we also saw Tom Brady find some new favorite targets. Phillip Dorsett may have had one of the best games of his career on Sunday. Dorsett had 4 catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Those numbers may not jump off the screen, but Dorsett showed some great skills. His touchdown catch looked like an X-Games trick and he always found ways to gain the extra yard.
Also, there was the long-awaited debut of Josh Gordon. He definitely didn’t disappoint.
Gordon had 2 catches for 32 yards. Again not that exciting, but Gordon proved that he can be apart of the offense and seems to have gained Tom Brady’s trust. Gordon also had a great block on James White’s touchdown run.
What about the defense?
As you could tell by the score, the New England Patriots defense played great as well. Patrick Chung and Trey Flowers returned and they made an impact. Flowers didn’t have a sack, but you could see he was causing pressure.
The entire Patriots defensive line was dominant. They were causing pressure in the pocket and didn’t let Ryan Tannehill get comfortable.
As a whole, the Patriots did a great job stopping the run. They wrapped up the Dolphins running backs and even when there was a missed tackle in the backfield, other players swarmed to the ball to make sure that nothing was gained.
Something else that stood out was Dont’a Hightower. The linebacker had a much better game even though he only had two tackles. He looked much faster and was never out of place.
Finally, the secondary did a great job controlling the air. They gave up less than 150 passing yards and rookie J.C. Jackson had his first interception.
It was a great day for the New England Patriots. The rest of the NFL has been put on notice. The boys are back!
