Boston Celtics rumors: Kyrie Irving’s value skyrocketed on Monday night
By Sam Minton
Even though Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics haven’t played a game of basketball in a few months his value suddenly skyrocketed on Monday night.
It looked like Kyrie Irving’s value had taken a bit of a hit during the 2018-19 Boston Celtics season, but now the point guard is the top free agent that will be available this Summer.
The big fish of this year’s free agent class was going to be Kevin Durant. It appeared that the star was headed to New York to play for the Knicks to try and win a championship on his own. Now things are up in the air.

In Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Durant suffered an Achilles injury that did not look good at all. I don’t think we will be seeing him play for a rather large chunk of time.
This means that Kyrie Irving is going to be the apple of the NBA’s eye. Now he will be the player that everyone fawns over.
This definitely doesn’t help the Boston Celtics out. Now team’s will be wanting to spend more to acquire Kyrie Irving. Maybe the New York Knicks will even take some of that money that they were going to spend on Kevin Durant and offer Irving a better deal.
If you don’t want Kyrie Irving to come back to the Celtics this is great news. The team will most likely have to give Terry Rozier the starting job or possibly look at players like Ricky Rubio or D’Angelo Russell.
No matter what there will definitely be a new look to the Boston Celtics next season. There has to be after their struggles last season. Hopefully the locker room will be much more cohesive and there won’t be as many conflicts.
The question is will the Boston Celtics improve with Kyrie Irving or without him?
