New reports are saying that a rift between Danny Ainge and Kyrie Irving may be the reason that Irving is unlikely to return to the Boston Celtics.

All season Kyrie Irving was a rollercoaster. One second he said he was going to stay with the Boston Celtics forever and the next he would say that he owes the team nothing.

For a while we attributed this to Kyrie’s weirdness. This is the same guy that loved to argue that the Earth was flat.

But that doesn’t appear to be the whole story. Apparently an argument between Danny Ainge and Kyrie Irving may have set the point guard off. Ainge disagreed with how Irving was leading the team.

It’s hard to blame Ainge. Kyrie was a terrible leader last season. He refused to take any accountability and often blamed the younger players. The same guys who managed to lead Boston to the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2017-18 season.

It was clear that Kyrie just didn’t gel with his teammates, his coaches, and now even the GM. It seemed like it was a great move at the time but the trade with the Cavaliers is regrettable to say the least.

July 1st is inching closer and it looks like we will finally see what the Celtics will do. Will they sign a big-time free agent to replace Irving or will Kyrie crawl back to Boston?

It may seem crazy but most Boston Celtics fans don’t want Kyrie to return. He causes more problems than solutions. It seems like every locker room that he walks into ends up being in worse shape after he arrives.

In a few more days the Kyrie Irving era in Boston will be over. Even though it might be Danny Ainge’s fault that Irving leaves, I don’t think fans will be too upset.
