Steven Kampfer signed a deal that will keep him with the Boston Bruins for 2 more years. What does this mean for the future of the team?

It might be June, but the Boston Bruins are already making moves for the 2019-20 season. The Bruins are bringing back a veteran defenseman.

The Bruins inked Steven Kampfer to a new 2-year deal and this has a lot of implications for the team.

This move makes me think that the Bruins are planning to lose a defenseman. The question is who is it?

Charlie McAvoy is a restricted free agent, but the Bruins have to re-sign him. McAvoy is the future of the Bruins defense and will be a No.1 defenseman one day.

Boston could be trying to free up space to re-sign Torey Krug. His contract expires at the end of the 2019-20 season. Are the Bruins preparing for the loss of Brandon Carlo?

If the Bruins didn’t re-sign Carlo I think it would be a major mistake. Carlo showed that he is a valuable asset. He finally managed to stay healthy and played well in the postseason.

Then there is the possibility that the Bruins are preparing to unload Torey Krug. Krug’s value is at its highest. He had a phenomenal season and was a key member of the Bruins power play.

The Bruins need a top 6 winger. Boston’s first line is great, but David Krejci needs a great goal scorer next to him and Jake DeBrusk. Boston’s 2nd line was visibly absent in the postseason. It seems like Krejci needs to have a star by his side.

dark. Next. Tuukka Rask showed up when it mattered most

So this might just be a normal offseason move for the Boston Bruins, but it is definitely something to keep an eye on. We might be seeing a big move involving the B’s sooner rather than later.
