The NHL recently ranked their top 20 centers and left Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron out of the top 5. As Stephanie Tanner would say “how rude!”

The Boston Bruins have been blessed with some great centers over the years. One of the best in the team’s storied history happens to play for the team right now, Patrice Bergeron.

We are basically counting down the days before his number is lifted to the rafters. The Bruins might as well do it right after his final game. There is no doubt that Bergeron will be the last member of the Bruins to wear the No.37.

More from Chowder and Champions

So it stunned me to see that Bergeron wasn’t a top 5 center in the NHL’s latest rankings for the position.  Now it’s not like Bergeron is far behind he is ranked 7th.

But the guys that are ahead of Bergeron are definitely not better. I would take Patrice Bergeron over John Tavares and Auston Matthews 100 times out of 100.

Bergeron isn’t just great in the offensive zone. He is a premier 2-way player. Bergeron is just as good on defense as he is on offense.

It also seems like Bergeron continues to get better with age. He had a career-high 79 points last season and tied his career-high in goals with 32.

Also Bergeron is one of the most reliable centers in the faceoff circle. Out of the top 10 players, Bergeron far and away has the best faceoff win percentage. One of the most important jobs of a center is to win faceoffs. This is a stat that should be factored in the ranking.

There isn’t anything that Bergeron can’t do. I bet he would probably be a great goaltender. He truly does it all out on the ice.

Tuukka Rask was a bargain. dark. Next

So once again the NHL decides to disrespect Patrice Bergeron and the Boston Bruins. When will they ever get their rankings right?
