The Boston Celtics exercised Robert Williams’ 3rd-year option proving that they believe in the talent the big man possesses.

This Boston Celtics season has been better than expected so far. The team is coming off one of their best wins of the season against the Milwaukee Bucks. The future isn’t as bleak as some may have thought.

One young player that looks like he will be a part of the Celtics future plans is Robert Williams. The team picked up his 3rd-year option.

Now this makes a lot of sense. The Celtics are going to need all the help they can get at center. It is probably their weakest position.

Williams also has a ton of talent and potential. His athleticism is off the charts. He just needs to become a more well-rounded player.

When the Boston Celtics have the ball and Williams is on the court they are basically down a man. The only way Williams scores is in the paint.

On defense Williams is a monster. He can block shots with ease and send them to the moon. Williams is one of the best defenders on Boston’s roster.

With Enes Kanter out, Williams is getting a ton of playing time. He already is averaging double the minutes that he played last season.

Sadly it looks like Williams has had a setback. He missed Friday’s game against the Knicks with a hip injury. Hopefully this is more of a precautionary move than a serious issue.

But hopefully we will see Williams continue to improve this season. The Celtics need a presence in the paint that can eat up minutes. I’d like to see Williams improve his perimeter scoring so that he won’t be a liability on offense.

The Boston Celtics are invested in Robert Williams. Hopefully, he won’t let them down.
