New England Patriots 2020 NFL Draft news: Adam Trautman would help team
By Sam Minton
The New England Patriots need a tight end and Adam Trautman’s skillset seems perfect for the team.
One thing was clear in 2019. The New England Patriots missed Rob Gronkowski a lot.
Tom Brady and the Patriots offense struggled to get going. It was one of the quarterback’s most disappointing seasons to date.

The passing game was rather disappointing for New England. Brady only threw for 4,000 yards. The last time he had such a mediocre season was a decade ago.
Losing Rob Gronkowski is losing a hall of famer. You won’t find another player like him.
But the Patriots need a pass-catching tight end. If they don’t Tom Brady could struggle again next season.
So a reasonable option is to look to the NFL Draft. There are definitely some interesting prospects out there.
One guy who might not be on everyone’s radar is Adam Trautman.
Trautman had quite the senior year. He had 70 receptions for 916 yards and 14 touchdowns. That was enough to get Trautman an invite to the Senior Bowl.
Now as we inch closer to the Scouting Combine, Trautman is being looked at as one of the best tight ends in the entire NFL Draft.
What makes Trautman such an intriguing target is his athleticism. As a former basketball player, he has some impressive hops. It also helps that he is 6’6″.
Trautman seems like he could be a great red zone threat. Brady can just loft the ball up and he will go up and get it.
Some scouts are saying Trautman could become a starter right away. If Tom Brady and the tight end are able to build some chemistry this would help out Julian Edelman a lot. We might even see guys like N’Keal Harry improve as well.
Opposing defenses were able to focus in on Edelman. He was Tom Brady’s sole weapon last season.
Trautman is projected to go on Day 2 of the draft. This definitely makes him a viable option for New England.
Adam Trautman could definitely be in a New England Patriots in 2020.
