Boston Celtics: Imagining Jayson Tatum somewhere else
By Sam Minton
FanSided redrafted the 2017 draft class and Jayson Tatum didn’t end up on the Boston Celtics. It’s hard to imagine him playing somewhere else.
It’s hard to imagine Jayson Tatum playing somewhere else. He has quickly become the face of the Boston Celtics.
The Boston Celtics were lucky to land Tatum. He quickly has shown that he is the best player to come out of that class.

Taking Tatum wasn’t seen as a genius move when he was first drafted. The Celtics had the No.1 pick and moved back to select Tatum. Some fans were upset that they didn’t select Markelle Fultz. This turned out to be an amazing move by Danny Ainge and the C’s.
Fansided recently redrafted the 2017 Draft and the results sure were interesting. To make things easier the draft order stayed the same. This means the Boston Celtics still moved back to 3rd overall, but this time they wouldn’t land Tatum.
Of course, Tatum went No.1 overall. The 76ers would be idiots to pass on Tatum two times in a row.
Tatum has established himself as the best player in the draft class. He quite possibly could become one of the best players in the NBA in a few years.
Celtics fans got to see Tatum dominate February. He averaged 30.7 points and 7.9 rebounds a game. He was basically unstoppable.
Tatum earned the honor of being named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month and officially put his name on the map. He was ready to take over as the Celtics No.1 guy.
So who did the Celtics end up with? In the redraft, Boston selected point guard De’Aaron Fox out of Kentucky.
This definitely isn’t a pick I would be angry about when looking at how well Fox has performed. Instead of the failed Kyrie Irving experiment, the Boston Celtics would have gotten a starting point guard in Fox.
Fox is having a great season for the Kings. He is averaging 20.4 points and 6.8 assists a game. With Fox only being 22 it would be interesting to see just how much he can progress. Also just about anything would be better than having Kyrie Irving come to Boston.
Imagining Tatum on the 76ers is definitely something I don’t want to do. It would be like Patrice Bergeron playing for the Canadiens. Tatum belongs in Boston.
Jayson Tatum has the opportunity to become the next face of the Boston Celtics. He has the talent and seems to love the city. Thank God Danny Ainge selected him when he had the chance.
