The New England Patriots will be looking to make some moves at the trade deadline and it seems like Stephon Gilmore is preparing to be traded.

Last season New England Patriots fans had to use their investigative skills with Tom Brady to try and figure out if he is staying or leaving. It looks like they will have to do that again with Stephon Gilmore.

With the Patriots having a lovely 2-4 record the team is no longer the contenders that they once were. They need to start selling off some of their talent.

Gilmore seems to be a prime candidate for a trade deadline move. He is New England’s best option if they want to get something serious in return.

The cornerback is coming off a 2019 season where he was named Defensive Player of the Year. Even though he has struggled in 2020 he is still a top corner in the NFL.

Also at the age of 30, Gilmore still has some great years ahead of him. If a team is looking to make a run for the Super Bowl.

There is also the fact that Gilmore would have to take a pay cut. The Patriots gave Gilmore quite the raise this offseason so his salary would revert back to a normal number next season.

The Patriots are known for not wanting to play their players. If they can move on from Tom Brady, they can move on from anybody.

It now almost seems like Gilmore is guaranteed to move with the latest news. The corner is selling his house. It should also be noted that the deadline for offers to be made on the house is an hour after the trade deadline

We saw this with Brady last season. Fans tried to make themselves believe that it was just the QB looking for a new house but we saw how that ended up.

The Patriots will be fine without Gilmore. They still have J.C. Jackson and Jonathan Jones who should be capable of handling the top spot on the depth chart.

New England needs to start acquiring some assets. They need to get some draft picks so that they can start planning for the future of the franchise. The Patriots are no longer a win now team.

So Pats fans should expect Gilmore to be moved at the trade deadline. All the signs point to him leaving New England and that could just be the start of a busy trade deadline for the team.
