Boston Bruins: Danton Heinen a necessary re-signing
By Sam Minton
The Boston Bruins re-signed Danton Heinen and the winger could have a big role on next year’s roster.
One of the most important restricted free agents that the Boston Bruins had to deal with is Danton Heinen. Thankfully he is finally back on the roster.
Heinen will be back for two more years and it looks like he will be a major part of the team’s future. The team would have let him go and focus on bringing back Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo.

Now Heinen spent a majority of the 2018-19 season on the 3rd line. He had a drop in scoring but improved in other areas of the game.
Heinen was a scrappy player. He did all of the little things and played a great game. It can’t be seen on the stat sheet, but Heinen did have a good season.
This season will be an important one for Heinen. I think that he may even end up on the first line.
The Bruins were extremely reliant on their first line. They produced most of the team’s scoring. Boston needs to balance out their lines and that means splitting up the first line.
It’s clear that Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron have a lot of chemistry, but I think that David Pastrnak should head down to the 2nd line with David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk. This would mean that Heinen could head to the top.
Playing with the first line would raise Heinen’s game. He needs to improve his point output and if he was with Marchand and Bergeron it could only get better. You would hope that Heinen could gather close to 50 points.
So this was a great move by the Boston Bruins. It gives them some depth and flexibility on the roster. Hopefully, Heinen will bounce back and prove that this investment wasn’t a waste.
