Boston Celtics rumors: Team should go all in for Karl-Anthony Towns
By Sam Minton
Karl-Anthony Towns wants out of Minnesota and he is just what the Boston Celtics need.
This season has been pretty awesome for the Boston Celtics. They have been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference and are fun to watch.
Still, the C’s aren’t perfect. Specifically, Boston needs a starting-caliber big man. That is where Karl-Anthony Towns comes into play.

Towns is fed up in Minnesota. They aren’t going to be a contender and he wants out. This could be a game-changer for the Celtics.
If the Celtics were to acquire Towns they would be getting a star and one of the best young big men in the game today.
So far in his career he is averaging 22.5 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. At 24, he is having one of the best seasons of his career. Towns’ is averaging 26.5 points and 11.7 rebounds a game.
Now the price for Towns will be high, but he is worth it. Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward would most likely be the main players involved due to salary cap reasons. Also Boston would probably have to give up a 1st round pick.
In the past I was wary of giving up Tatum. He seems primed to be a star in the league, but now I am okay with the Celtics trading him. This package also ensures that Boston won’t have to give up Marcus Smart (now that would be a big mistake).
Towns would give the Celtics a shot to win the NBA Finals. Boston would have a new big 3 of Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, and Towns.
Due to Jaylen Brown’s emergence as a star this season you can afford to give up Tatum. The Celtics have plenty of wings. They need a player who can dominate in the paint.
So it might cost the Boston Celtics a lot, but there is no doubt that the C’s should be doing everything they can to acquire Karl-Anthony Towns.
