The Boston Bruins have struck out so far this offseason and if they don’t sign Mike Hoffman the fanbase will be extremely angry.

Well, Boston Bruins fans continued to get peppered with bad news. That’s why the team needs to make a splash and sign Mike Hoffman.

Let’s start off with the bad. Bruins fans found out that David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand will likely miss the start of the NHL season due to offseason surgeries.

That’s a major blow to the team. Those are two of the best scorers on Boston’s roster. This will put a ton of pressure on Patrice Bergeron to do most of the scoring for the Bruins.

Then on Thursday, Bruins fans got more bad news. Evgenii Dadonov signed with the Ottawa Senators. Once again another Bruins target has left the B’s at the altar.

Things are starting to look really bad for Boston. Matt Grzelcyk is headed to arbitration but they still need to sign Jake DeBrusk.

But Boston needs to make a splash in free agency. If not Don Sweeney will be under some real pressure for the first time in his career.

With Pastrnak and Marchand missing the start of the season, the Bruins need a goal scorer. That’s where Hoffman comes in.

Now Hoffman isn’t great on defense. You would be acquiring a pure goal scorer and simply hope that his teammates can pick up the slack on defense.

Hoffman would be a perfect addition to Boston’s second line. He would likely slide into DeBrusk’s spot on the line and give David Krejci some amazing linemates to work with.

Last season Hoffman scored 29 goals and 30 assists. If Boston got that type of performance from a second-line winger they would definitley be pleased.

Hoffman seems primed for a one year deal similar to Taylor Hall. It’s likely that it would cost a team around five or six million dollars. If the Bruins are going to move on from DeBrusk and Zdeno Chara, they will definitley have the cap space to sign Hoffman.

If Boston’s roster doesn’t get any sort of upgrades the team will have a disappointing season. It’s hard to be confident with Marchand and Pastrnak missing a decent chunk of what will likely be a shortened NHL season.

Next. Time for Jakub Zboril to show his worth. dark

So the Bruins need to sign Hoffman. He will make fans happy and also ensure that Boston has goal scoring even without Marchand and Pastrnak. Without him, the Bruins could be in some real trouble.
