The Boston Bruins had their first day of Training Camp and Craig Smith proved that he will be a player that fans enjoy.

Monday was the day that Boston Bruins fans have been waiting for. The B’s had their first day of Training Camp and the regular season continues to inch closer.

Boston didn’t make a lot of offseason moves, but one of their acquisitions was Craig Smith. The former Nashville forward seems like he could be a quality depth addition to the roster.

More from Chowder and Champions

Last season in 69 games, Smith scored 18 goals and 13 assists. Those numbers might not jump off the screen but he would help Boston’s goal-scoring efforts.

Also, one thing that stands out is how much Smith likes to shoot. He averages around 4-5 shots a game.

But it seems like Smith doesn’t just score. He also isn’t afraid to skate hard and work in the dirty areas.

According to Matt Porter of the Boston Globe, fans should like what Smith brings to the table.

If you have been lucky enough to attend a game at TD garden you are used to fans screaming shoot on every single power play and whenever Boston is cycling the puck in the attacking zone.

It doesn’t even have to be at the TD Garden, when watching a game with a Bruins fan they can scream “shoot!” every other minute. It seems like they won’t have to do that when Smith is on the ice.

Boston’s third line looks like it could be very dangerous. Pairing Smith alongside Charlie Coyle and Anders Bjork could create a terrific trio. If they are able to light the lamp at a decent pace, Boston will be one of the best teams in the NHL.

Even though Boston lost Torey Krug and Zdeno Chara, they still have a chance to make a run for the Stanley Cup. The team needs star players like David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand to answer the call. Tuukka Rask will need to have one of the best seasons of his career and defensemen like Brandon Carlo and Charlie McAvoy will have to perform well in their increased roles.

But if Smith plays up to his potential, he should make Boston Bruins fans very happy. Seeing that he’s expected to be on the third-line the bar isn’t set too high.

Next. Jack Studnicka should start 2021 season on 1st line. dark

With how this offseason has gone, Boston’s front office will be hoping and praying that the move works out and that the B’s can have a successful season in 2021.
