It seemed like Alex Cora could make a return to managing the Boston Red Sox in 2021 but the World Series champion might have managed his last game.

The Boston Red Sox are going through a lot of changes. Mainly the loss of Alex Cora and Mookie Betts sticks out.

Boston traded Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a move that was disappointing to a lot of fans. The face of the Red Sox organization headed out West.x

But the loss of Alex Cora isn’t too be scoffed at. So many players loved playing for Cora. He was the definition of a player’s coach. Even after Cora was suspended players mentioned how much they would miss him.

We didn’t know when Cora would return until MLB came down with Boston’s punishment. Cora was left unscathed and that opened up the possibility of him returning in 2021.

This seemed like a no brainer especially with the fact that we have no idea if there will even be a 2020 season. MLB has already said that suspensions such as Cora’s wouldn’t be extended if there isn’t a season. That opens up the possibility of the Red Sox not playing a game without Cora as their manager.

But does Cora want to return? The answer could be no. When a Twitter user claimed that Cora has managed his last game he didn’t seem too upset at the thought.

This would definitely put a damper in Boston’s plans. It seemed like it was a foregone conclusion that Cora would return. With him managing the Red Sox’s rebuild would be much quicker.

Now this news makes it seem like the Red Sox might be in trouble. They have some great players like Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, and J.D. Martinez, but their minor league system is a mess and their pitching rotation needs improvement.

Having a quality manager is important for an organization. They guide the team throughout a season and at the end of their journey is hopefully a World Series.

Hopefully, Cora is just joking because the Boston Red Sox could definitely improve with Cora as manager. Ron Roenicke hasn’t earned that same trust yet.

Next. Jon Lester should retire a Red Sox. dark

If Alex Cora has managed his last game at least he was able to bring a World Series trophy to Boston.
